Hey party people! I’m 16 days into my 30 Day Fitness Challenge. Since I’m halfway through now, I thought it would be a good time to do an all-hands update of how things are going.
If you’re wondering why my posts have been a little infrequent lately, well it’s because I’ve been stretched a tad bit thin writing updates every night about my workout progress over on the original 30 Day Challenge post. Turns out, writing an update and fitness tip every night after an exhausting workout is a lot to bite off. Can you say Chubby Bunny?? So I apologize for the infrequent posts, but I’m hoping to get a better balance of things when I reevaluate after the 30 days.
By the way if you haven’t noticed already, I’ve been posting a new fitness/health tip each day in my sidebar (look under the Join My Fitness Challenge section). Even if you’re not participating in the Challenge, I hope you’ll stop by the blog each day and take a peek at the latest Challenge Tip. All the healthy tips can be easily incorporated into your daily routine.
I also wanted to send a thank you to everyone who has left a comment or emailed me about this Challenge, especially all the participants who are updating with their own progress each day. One of the best things about this fitness challenge is that I’ve read a lot of positive comments from other moms and non-moms alike. I was expecting more whining and excuses to be had (mostly from myself), but the positive energy has been a refreshing motivator each day. As someone who tends to fall into a negative trap and beat down on myself, I think this challenge has really turned out to be an exercise of the mind more than the body. And I’m ok with that.
Overall, I’ve been feeling really empowered with what I’m practicing each day. Getting better at planks, push ups, and cardio has paid off. I noticed that I didn’t fall behind in my hip-hop cardio class (particularly the conditioning portion) like I did last session. I’m still hoping to incorporate a more consistent jogging routine in with my evening workouts. I figure it’s a manageable way to get my cardio in and get out and enjoy the outdoors with NB during the day.
I have to be honest, I haven’t weighed myself yet. I’m not expecting much of a change at this time with it only being the halfway point. I have noticed my pants fitting nicer (hurray!) and I’ve lost about 1/2″ around the waist. Not bad, but I’m hoping I have an excuse to go shopping for some new skinny jeans next month. Holla! Could I be progressing faster? Sure. Working out an hour a day and eating more “streamlined” meals would put me on the fast track towards slimming down and getting fit. But like I mentioned earlier, I’m stretched pretty thin (pun intended) at the moment, and I’m already having a hard enough time rearranging these tiny jigsaw pieces that make up my free time. And you know me. I don’t do diets.
So, we’ll see where I end up at the end of the 30 days. The big picture would be to change my life and start a healthy habit that lasts beyond the 30 days. If I have more energy and positivity to go with that, well… I’d be a pretty happy noob.
Want to join the Challenge? It’s never too late! Visit my 30 Day Challenge post to read my daily updates and meet the other participants. We share our pains (literally) without getting all Negative Nancy. And don’t forget to stop by each day for a new Challenge Fitness/Health tip. It’s like your morning Sudoku … but without the numbers. Or the grids.

You are so motivational! My biggest complaint when it comes to fitness is “I don’t have time”, but you’re doing it, and so many other Mom’s are too. It is definitely mind over matter! Thanks for the boost, I needed it today!
