One of Noob Baby’s favorite art activities is painting with Do-A-Dot markers. We discovered these paint-marker hybrids awhile back in one of her toddler craft classes. I love that these paints are spill proof and require zero setup. Since we do most of our crafting indoors (on our magical Stainmaster carpeting I might add), I’m always looking for art ideas that can be contained in case of disaster.
Just give these paint bottles a quick shake and they’re ready to go. We bought a couple of the Do-A-Dot Creative Activity books to use with our markers. If you’ve got a Michael’s Craft store nearby, I suggest you print out one of their ubiquitous 40% off coupons and use it purchase your markers or activity books. And if you have a copier at home, I highly recommend photocopying the pages from the Do-A-Dot books so you can stttrrreeettch your investment even further (a necessary teacher survival strategy).
Go crazy and get as creative as you want with these dot paints. Use plain paper, coffee filters, or whatever painting medium you have around the house. I’ve also found some really creative homeschooling sites with free Do-A-Dot activities, including many educational pages for teaching letters, numbers, and sight words. I’m all for artful learning!
