…and just like that… Noob Baby’s first Halloween is already over. Whew! And what a day it was.
Note to self: Don’t schedule baby shots the day before a holiday, particularly ones that require dressing up in anything besides a Onesie; or before a day in which Noob Baby is going to visit Daddy at work and requires Super Baby behavior.
Well, to give her credit, she did great today considering she was running a 101 fever pretty much the entire day. Not only did she just have her shots, but she’s also growing her first set of chompers.
We made it to Noob Daddy’s work, ate lunch and even hammed it up a little…all without a fuss. I’m glad we decided to go despite the evil fever. I just couldn’t have her first Halloween fly by without a little excitement. And, yes, I had to see her in her butterfly costume.
As for me, I was pretty disappointed that we only got one group of trick-or-treaters. What’s going on with kids today? It’s free candy! It doesn’t matter where we move to either. The kiddos just dwindle down. Halloween isn’t getting the attention it deserves anymore.
Every Halloween, I think back to when I was a kid and we’d go trick-or-treating with like 15 friends. Afterwards, we’d sprawl out all our candy on the carpet and start wheelin’ and dealin’. Set up shop if you will. First, you had to get rid of those Almond Joys and Mounds – stat! Then, stash away any full-size candy bars from greedy eyes. The fair market value of Tootsie Rolls to Snickers? 10 to 1. Dum Dums to Blow Pops – 5 to 1.
Well, I love to celebrate Halloween by reading a great kids/grown-up book by my favorite comedian, Jerry Seinfeld – Halloween. If you haven’t read it, grab a copy and check it out. It’s sure to satisfy that sweet tooth 🙂
